Keith Egner - Minister-Children & Families
Keith Egner was born in Miami, FL and received his Bachelor of Church Ministry at Trinity Baptist College. He joined the First Baptist Canton (FBC) staff 7 years ago as Overseer of Family Ministry for children from birth to 5th grade. Additional staff members are April McDaniel, Breanne Cunningham and Tammy Frazier. There are over 100 volunteers working in the Family Ministry Department. He says the most interesting part of his job is the ability to connect with the kids; getting to make them smile and helping them to connect to Jesus. Keith stressed that our church family can help FBC Family Ministry by praying, getting involved with serving opportunities and championing our children and their parents. Patricia (Trisha) and Keith will be married 16 years this December. They live in Ball Ground with sons Caleb, 13 years old and Kyle, 12. Their youngest son, Christian was 5 years old when he passed away in 2015. You can see photos of a smiling Christian on the posters for the Smile Run which will take place October 8 at FBC. The proceeds from the Smile Run will benefit Ralph Bunch Preschool which has a special needs prevention program. The Christian Egner Foundation, which Keith and Trisha established exists to support programs to assist children with special needs. In replying to "What does Jesus mean to you?" Keith said "He is my life. Jesus gives me the strength, rest and passion I need to make it. I want to be an extension of Jesus to my family, church and community." Keith's favorite Bible verse - II Corinthians 5:7 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come." NIV
John Gregory PASTORAL CARE
John was born in Orlando, Florida but claims Decatur, Georgia as to where he was reared. Attending both elementary and High Schools in Decatur, GA After graduating from High school, John was married to his high school sweetheart, Patty (Hudgins). Enrolling in the night school at John Marshall University and starting a family kept he and Patty quite busy. They have two adult children now and 12 grandchildren. Moving to Mobile Alabama they began attending the Cottage Hill Baptist Church. Patty had accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age but John was still without Christ as Lord and Savior. During a Revival service he heard the gospel very clearly. Later that night as he lay in bed thinking about what he had heard, God clearly spoke to him and so literally rolling off the bed, he found himself on his knees. He prayed and fully embraced Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Shortly thereafter, the Lord began calling him into Vocational ministry. Attending a Bible school and later the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary at the North Georgia campus. He graduated from NOBTS in 1983 already having served in several churches. Being led to Thomasville, Georgia a new church start was begun. John served as pastor there and in other churches in both the Georgia convention and Florida convention for approximately 15 years. Open to God’s call in 1988 he began serving as a regional representative with Moody Bible Institute. This involved visiting donors that were supportive of the Bible Institute. Retiring in 2013. FBCCanton asked John in 2014 to join the Pastoral Staff. John currently serves as the Pastoral Care/Senior Adult Pastor. John and Patty make their home in Ball Ground.
